Finding Inspiration in Every Turn
83 SOUTH is the destination for sensational dining and social gathering. Imagine: soft lights and music, easy seating for private groups, food prepared by award-winning Top Chef Katsuji Tanabe, and an overall thrilling ambience, then you have just envisioned what you will find at 83 SOUTH, the Triangle’s soon-to-be sought-after locale. The idea for 83 SOUTH came together as the perfect location, the desired staff, and the owners’ perseverance to move forward all fell into place. The three men behind this innovative vision for the Triangle are: Brooks Splawn, Luke Hanson, and Banks Sinclair.

Our Story
Starting from the right, Brooks Splawn’s vision for 83 SOUTH stemmed from his strong ties to family and tradition. Growing up in the Carolinas, Brooks’ roots are firmly rooted in Raleigh. With over fifteen years in finance and banking, as both a domestic and international entrepreneur, and as a part of the management team for several Fortune 500 companies, Brooks has developed a deep understanding of the Triangle area’s strengths—and how those strengths can be harnessed to envision a stronger, more prosperous future for the region. Brooks also views 83 SOUTH as a way for him and his family to give back to the community—values that they seek to instill in future generations.
The second member of the trio is Banks Sinclair. Banks didn’t grow up privileged, but that only inspired him to become a successful entrepreneur and businessman. If you are seeking to have your spirits lifted, you will want to meet Banks because he doesn’t meet strangers. His firm handshake, warm smile, and overall outgoing and optimistic attitude will draw you into the intoxicating ambience of 83 SOUTH. One of his many contributions to the venue is developing its atmosphere, which he envisions as a unique, exquisite dining experience. Banks freely acknowledges that he “has always wanted to facilitate life-long memories.” For him, this means tending to a clientele that can often be overlooked on Glenwood.
Lastly, like Brooks, Luke Hanson’s strong commitment to family anchors his vision for 83 SOUTH. Although he has many family members in South Carolina, Luke himself grew up in a solid entrepreneurial environment in the Pacific Northwest. Luke’s “special power” that he brings to the trio is his knowledge of and passion for fresh, locally grown produce. Area farmers will find an advocate in Luke, given his desire to maintain menus that are from “farm to table.” Luke looks forward to incorporating the freshest meats and produce into the cuisine at 83 SOUTH. He sees 83 SOUTH as an “upscale, but comfortable” locale, a place to go after a busy day at work.
For an unforgettable dining experience that offers Sunday brunch with an in-house DJ, high-end dinner menus with small plates, craft cocktails, beer, and wine, you will want to check out this soon-to-open venue. Additionally, between 10:30/ 11 pm, the restaurant will give way to a late-night lounge for adults that closes at 2 am. With such a unique variety of things to offer to the Triangle area, 83 SOUTH is fated to become your new destination.
